AFTER joining the Cherries for £40million, Evanilson had big boots to fill for Bournemouth, not only being the record signing for the club but replacing one of their most prolific Premier League goal scorers in their history.
After a slow start on the south coast, Evanilson found his groove scoring in three consecutive Premier League games, one of which being the goal that helped seal the victory over Manchester City.
When asked about Evanilson’s confidence before the game against Brighton, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola said: “I feel he is more relaxed - he's someone that knows the club made a big effort for him and he wants to achieve everything that we expect from him.
“But I've been very happy with his performances from the beginning, and I hope he continues the same way.
“I don't care if he scores tomorrow or not, I hope he helps the team and continues in the same way, in his play and everything.”
Cherries keeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Evanilson scored his first goal in a 3-1 win against Southampton, opening the scoring by throwing himself on a quickly taken chipped freekick to slot the ball low past formerTo start his recent scoring streak, Evanilson scored the late gasp equaliser against Aston Villa in the 96th minute, guiding the ball past Emiliano Martinez from another free kick.
As mentioned, he scored the sealing goal against Manchester City, accelerating away from the defence to connect to the end of a low Milos Kerkez cross.
He completed his first 90 minutes in the Cherries' last game before international break, the unfortunate 3-2 loss at Brentford, where some good anticipation saw him cut out a back pass, round the keeper, and pass into an empty net.
