THE Cherries booked their place in the second round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a 6-0 victory at Saltash United.
Erin Bloomfield scored twice to take her tally to 13 goals for the season as Bournemouth cruised past the South West Regional League Division One South side.
Bloomfield netted either side of half time, after a Molly Barron-Clark opener direct from a corner.
Bournemouth scored four in the second half to complete the victory, with Amber Treweek, Katie James and Alisha Buckingham adding to the Bloomfield brace and Barron-Clark effort.
The visitors started brightly with Ashes goalkeeper Konnie Kleczkowski saving from Ellie Strippel’s long range effort, before Kenni Thompson was denied by the keeper from close.
Thompson clipped the crossbar with a deep cross, before Strippel flashed an effort past the post after a mazy run.
The Cornish hosts were one down to the Cherries after 22 minutes, as Barron-Clark’s in-swinging corner went in at the far post after bouncing through a congested six-yard box.
Barron-Clark went close shortly after, firing over the bar from 25-yards, before Jenna Markham also shot over.
The Cherries were piling on the pressure and saw efforts from Barron-Clark, Strippel and Markham on the Ashes goal, Kleczkowski saving well from the latter.
But it was two after Hayley Ranachan brought down Markham with a rash challenge, the referee pointing to the spot.
Bloomfield confidently converted, sending Kleczkowski the wrong way to double the Bournemouth lead after 41 minutes.
Kelci Bowers saw a shot saved at the near post as the sides went into the halftime break with the Cherries two goals to the good, and the advantage was extended after 57 minutes.
Ranachan turned a Kenni Thompson effort behind for a corner, and from the resulting set piece from Barron-Clark, Bloomfield powered a header past Kleczkowski.
It was four just three minutes later as Treweek notched her first goal of the season, on hand to poke home a loose ball after the Saltash keeper had tipped an attempted clearance onto the crossbar.
Markham went close as she glanced James’ cross past the post, before Gemma McGuinness struck the crossbar with a shot.
James added the Bournemouth fifth five minutes from time, sweeping home substitute McGuinness’ cross, this James’ fourth goal in as many games.
Buckingham completed the scoring late on with an emphatic finish as the Cherries completed a comfortable 6-0 victory.
The Cherries will face AFC Portchester in the second round on November 24, setting up a reunion with former captain Gemma Hillier.
Up next for the Cherries is a top-of-the-table clash with Swindon Town at the Vitality Stadium in the National League Division One South West on Sunday, November 10.
