SWANAGE Town and Herston FC continued their unbeaten run with a 2-0 home victory over Bournemouth Electric in a fierce contest.
The visitors to Day’s Park came out firing and nearly took the lead in the 6th minute, but Swans keeper Brad Smith saved brilliantly.
The opening goal came for Swanage in the 10th minute after a corner, won by Cody Moore, found captain Stephen Pryor, whose header caused chaos and Ogun Gundogdu poked home in the scramble.
Electric pushed for an equaliser, but Swans defender Sam Clarke made a crucial last-ditch tackle and Smith saved well from a powerful Kyle Clements header.
Cohen Lee and Moore combined for a Swanage chance before the break but a weak shot let the visitors off the hook, before Smith saved again in stoppage time as the sides went into the break with a narrow Swanage lead.
The hosts won a penalty in the 48th minute as Moore was brought down, but Clarke’s effort struck the post and Ocean Smith’s follow-up was saved.
Electric almost equalised four minutes later but Swanage doubled their lead in the 58th minute, Pryor unleashed a stunning low strike that beat the keeper from the corner of the box.
Moore continued to cause problems for Electric, as he, Lee and Izac Clarke linked up well in the 65th minute, but Lee’s effort went wide.
The Swans defence held firm and frustrated Electric.
Moore had a chance to seal the win in the 80th minute, but his chip went straight into the keeper’s arms after he was played through.
Charlie Dyke had a powerful long range shot well saved by the Electric stopper after 85 minutes as Swanage comfortably saw out the game.
Swans manager Craig Adams was full of praise for his team.
He said: “Today was a fantastic result against a very good Bournemouth Electric side who are near the top of the league for a reason.
“Our lads were brilliant from start to finish, they showed tremendous character and resilience throughout and deserved their reward.
“Our supporters were great, in full voice, and the players and staff really appreciate it.”
