SWANAGE and Wareham Hockey Club’s second team emerged victorious after a close game with Bournemouth.
The ladies’ second team began with enthusiasm after last weeks’ win, but this was dampened after the visitors opened the scoring.
But Nicole ‘Bug’ Deller found the back of the net for the equaliser after a short corner, but the visitors took the lead just before half time in an even contest.
The Swans’ determination to equalise was rewarded when Liz Goldsack won a goalmouth scramble, and the home side pushed for a late winner.
Eight minutes from time, Liz Solomon produced the winner, again from a short corner, and Swanage were able to see the game out after tense final exchanges.
Captain Yasmin Unsworth said: “I couldn't be prouder of the team today, everyone on that pitch fought so hard for a very well deserved result.”
