POOLE Pirates’ SGB Cab Direct Championship Grand Final opponents have been finalised.

It will be southern track shoot-out next week as Pirates will face Oxford Cheetahs, after they saw off Scunthorpe in the semi-finals.

Oxford will host the first leg of the final on Wednesday, September 25, before Pirates host the decider on Friday, September 27.

Pirates secured a thumping victory over Oxford in the first meeting of 2024 in the BSN Series, winning 61-29 at home.

But since that meeting the sides have been evenly matched, with Oxford snatching a narrow 45-44 win at home in the same competition.

They drew their first clash in the Championship in Oxford in June, 45-45, before the Cheetahs subjected Pirates to defeat at Wimborne Road for the first time since 2022, taking a 41-49 victory in August.

Oxford narrowly defeated Scunthorpe in the play-off semi-final after an early scare in the second leg.

The Cheetahs led by two points after the first leg but saw that wiped out as away side Scunthorpe led throughout the early stages of the fixture.

The hosts took until heat 10 to regain their aggregate lead and went on to win 49-41 on the night to book their final spot against Poole.

Tickets for the Poole meeting are now on sale.
