WEYMOUTH hotshot Frankie Monk has joined Dorset neighbours Poole Town on loan.
Monk, 20, has made only eight substitute appearances for the Terras this season, chalking up a total of 204 minutes.
He last played for Weymouth in the 1-1 draw with Chippenham, featuring for only 11 minutes.
Monk has since not played in the FA Cup loss to Bath plus the 0-0 draw at Slough and has not featured in the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw with Tonbridge or Saturday’s 3-1 win over Eastbourne.
Monk has enjoyed extra game time with Weymouth Under-23s under the wing of manager Craig Adams, making four appearances this season.
The move to Poole reunites him with Poole Town boss Matt Tubbs, having spent considerable time underneath the ex-Cherries striker at Bashley.
It will be Monk’s first taste of Step 3 football, experiencing no higher than Step 4 with Hamworthy and Bashley in previous loan stints.
At this level he will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Weymouth youth product Matty Burrows, now flourishing at Step 3 level with AFC Totton.
In a club statement, Poole said: “Frankie is a 20-year-old forward with genuine pace and an eye for goal.
“He signed for Weymouth in 2022 having previously been a member of the West Brom Under-18 setup.
“Among a number of first-team appearances for Weymouth he has enjoyed successful loan spells with both Hamworthy and Bashley under Matt Tubbs.”
Monk is in line to make his Dolphins debut at Hungerford Town in Southern League Premier South this evening (7.45pm).
