ROB McTaggart and Lauren Baker-Little emerged victorious at race three of the 2023 Upton Summer Series.
Across the events, 187 athletes completed the 3.5-mile course around Upton Country Park, with 89 children taking part in the junior one-mile race.
McTaggart won the men’s race, shaving a few seconds off his previous time, coming home in 18:48.
He was followed home by the same pair of Poole Runners as in the previous event, chased right through the line by Dion Garner (18:50), with Lewis Clarke (19:01) coming in a close third.
Hugo Richardson and Seb Crowe of Bournemouth AC finished just a hair behind the frontrunners, finishing in 19:05 and 19:08 respectively.
In the women’s race, Baker-Little of Poole Runners completed the course in 23:24 to take the win, followed home by Phillipa Shawyer (Littledown Harriers, 24:23), who also won her category, in the women’s 40-44 age group. Vicky Rutter (Westbourne Running Club, 24:31) rounded out the top three.
Bournemouth AC snatched the men’s team lead with the strong performances of, while the Poole Runners ladies won the team lead for the second time this season.
Oliver Harrison (Poole AC, 5:14) and Amelia Drew (Poole AC, 6:08) won first place boy and girl in the junior event.
Race four takes place on Wednesday, July 12.
