POOLE sailor Boris Shaw clinched a silver medal at the Youth Sailing World Championships.
The 16-year-old finished second in the male windsurfing category, and had already sealed silver with a day to spare in Mussanah, Oman.
“I’m really happy, this is my first time at the Youth Worlds so to come away with silver is amazing,” said Shaw.
“It was a really tricky week of light winds and tough racing. I had to fight my way to the top in most races.
"It was really good to confirm the silver medal with a day still to go, I was really happy about that and it took the pressure off the final day.”
Gold in the event went to Italy's Federico Alan Pilloni, who won the regatta with a day to spare, while Turkey's Ozan Turker took bronze.
Shaw continued a strong event for the British contingent, with fellow young sailors Emily Mueller and Florence Brellisford also in the medals.
The pair were crowned female 29er world champions, taking the title in style.
Although Mueller, of Guildford, and Southend-on-Sea's Brellisford had narrowly taken gold with a race to spare after beating the Americans on tiebreak countback, the British went out all guns blazing to finish the regatta in style, with a win in the final race. Silver went to Charlie Leigh and Sophie Fisher (USA) and Alja Petric and Katja Filipic (Slovenia) in bronze.
