JACK Holder led the charge as Pirates sealed a valuable 45-45 draw in the second leg of their bank holiday Monday meetings against Swindon.
The Aussie charger totalled 14 paid 15 from six rides as Poole came from eight points down to earn a level meeting and two SGB Premiership points at the Abbey.
Just minutes after their 51-39 defeat at Wimborne Road earlier in the day, Swindon announced Rasmus Jensen as part of their septet to replace Dawid Lampart.
Jensen made an immediate impact, taking victory in the opener alongside Jason Doyle as the Robins claimed a 5-1.
After a shared reserves’ heat due to Nico Covatti’s bike packing up, Adam Ellis and Jensen teamed up to earn a second maximum for the hosts in heat three.
Danish duo Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen and Nicolai Klindt earned a 4-2 for Pirates in heat four with the former sealing the win. Holder then dialled in his first success of the night by claiming the spoils in heat five.
But Jensen and Doyle then paired up for the second time to earn a maximum, triumphing over Busk Jakobsen and Covatti– meaning Poole slumped eight points behind.
Pirates then began to creep back into proceedings.
Worrall led the charge to seal victory over Jensen for a 4-2 in heat eight before Covatti led home Holder for a heat-nine maximum – bringing the deficit to just two.
And after Klindt won a shared heat 10, Pirates restored parity after 11 races. Holder finished ahead of Troy Batchelor to take the chequered flag, with Worrall third to earn the visitors a 4-2.
The sides traded 4-2s with Ellis and Holder sealing wins in races 12 and 13 respectively – Swindon were also without former world champion Doyle for the climax to the meeting due to a shoulder injury.
A shared heat 14 meant it was all to play for going into the finale.
And after Klindt has been forced to retire, Holder held his nerve to triumph ahead of Jensen and Troy Batchelor.
