NEW Forest District Council has allocated £4.5m of funding towards projects across the district.
The funding, from the Community Infrastructure Levy, will help deliver town centre improvements, develop recreation grounds, walking routes and support flood defence work.
Community Infrastructure Levy is paid and collected directly by developers as part of the planning process when new homes are granted permission across the district.
Derek Tipp, portfolio holder for planning and economy, said: “Supporting these key projects aligns with the vision of our new corporate plan; to secure a better future by supporting opportunities for the people and communities we serve, protecting our unique and special place and securing a vibrant and prosperous New Forest
“We’re dedicated to shaping our place, empowering our residents to live healthy, connected and fulfilling lives, and to supporting our high-quality business base and economic centres to thrive and grow.”
He added: “Another £1m has been set aside for local smaller scale projects, similar to the process run in October 2023.
“The funding will be open to anyone who can deliver a project to support the local community across the district and bidding will likely begin in October 2024.”
