A ROADSHOW to help families of carers access crucial information and support is coming to Bournemouth.
The national charity Kinship will be at the Hilton hotel in Terrace Road, Bournemouth, between 9.30am and 2.30pm on Thursday, September 19.
In Bournemouth, the charity estimates that kinship carers are looking after 405 kinship children in the town.
Kinship carers are relatives or family friends who step up to look after a child when their parents can’t, to prevent them going into the care system.
However, most carers struggle to access the information, advice and support they desperately need, according to the charity.
Bournemouth kinship carer Caroline Knipe, 56, and her 53-year-old husband are raising their two grandchildren.
She said: “[The roadshow]will help carers know that they’re not out there alone because it can be hard, especially if you don’t have the right support.”
Kinship chief executive Lucy Peake said: “Our roadshows are designed to help kinship carers meet and build connections with useful organisations and learn how to navigate the system so that they can access the support their kinship children need and deserve.”
Kinship carers in Bournemouth and surrounding areas can register to attend the free roadshow at: https://compass.kinship.org.uk/training-and-events/kinship-roadshow-bournemouth/.
