A  LOCKING knife was discovered and seized after police stop men suspected of drug dealing.

Bournemouth Police were out in full force after receiving increased funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner in Dorset under a new operation.

During the day of action, a quantity of alcohol and a locking knife were seized by officers.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: “This morning a number of individuals were moved on from the Westbourne area following reports of street drinkers causing issues in the area.

“Their open alcohol was also seized and disposed of under the BCP PSPO - public space protection order which prohibits drinking of alcohol in a public place across the BCP.

“This afternoon PC John visited a number of the local businesses in the town centre that have been repeatedly targeted by shop lifters to offer a visible presence and reassurance to the business community.

“During a patrol of the lower gardens two males were searched under the misuse of drugs act, due to their suspected involvement in drug dealing in the area.

“One male was found to be carrying a locking knife and has been interviewed in relation to its possession.

“He will be receiving a court date for this in due course.”
