A MAN was slapped with a fixed penalty notice after a cage fell on a pedestrian.
The man in his 80s was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries when the cage full of stock fell from the back of a lorry.
The incident happened on the morning of May 10, 2023 in Barrack Road, Christchurch.
Meanwhile, the elderly pedestrian who was struck by the metal cage was later discharged from hospital to recover from his injuries.
Dorset Police said a 44-year-old man from Ruislip in West London received a fixed penalty notice for a driving offence.
Police officers closed the busy road both ways between Stour Road and Bailey Roundabout at the Shell garage for several hours.
It brought much disruption to Christchurch’s traffic for the day, with parents of nearby schools being warned to consider ditching the car to collect their children.
