A SERVING Dorset Police officer is to appear in court after an alleged assault and public order offence.
The court appearance comes after a reported incident at Canvas nightclub in Bournemouth during the night of Saturday, March 30 to Sunday 31, when the officer was off duty.
Detective inspector Mark Portelli faces three counts of assault and one count of using threatening or abusive words- behaviour likely to cause harassment, harm or distress.
Dorset Police say the officer is currently suspended and has been issued with a postal requisition following the alleged assault.
He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 13.
