Dorset RSPCA: 6 pets who are looking for new homes

Located on the border with Hampshire, the centre offers care for its animals in rural surroundings.

Rosie

Gender - Female

Age - Four years old

Breed - American Bulldog

Colour - Black and White

Rosie is described as a larger-sized dog "with a lot of love to give" and loves a bit of a fuss with known people.

Due to her history, Rosie can find life a bit worrying at times and may be vocal when startled by unfamiliar people or dogs.

However, once she gets to know you and other dogs, she becomes friendly and calm.

Rosie is comfortable wearing a muzzle, which is necessary for walks due to her anxiety around strangers and other dogs.

Ideally, she is looking for a calm, adult-only home where she will be the only pet.

Her new caregivers should be patient and ideally experienced with larger breeds.

Garfield and Sylvester

Age - One-year-old (Garfield) and Four years old (Sylvester)

Breed - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Colour - Ginger and White (Garfield), Black and White (Sylvester)

Garfield and Sylvester are a "lovely bonded pair of cats" who are looking for a home together.

They came from a multi-cat household and were very scared on arrival, but their confidence has built up over time.

In their new home, they will need a room they can call their own to help them settle in first before being able to go and explore the rest of the house.

They could live in a house with teenagers that have had cats before and are calm around them.

Daisy

Age - Six to 12 months old

Breed - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Daisy is an active and playful young cat who is said to be "a bundle of energy".

She will need lots of opportunities to play and explore in her new home, as well as a cat tree as she loves to climb.

Daisy could live with secondary school-age children as she can get a little over-excited.

Additionally, she could share the space with a friendly cat given time to get to know each other.

Mickey

Breed - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Mickey is described as an "affectionate boy" who loves company and being fussed over.

He can be vocal when he sees you and will meow for treats.

Despite loving human company he isn't keen on being picked up, as he prefers to come over to you for attention.

In Mickey's previous home, he was reported as not having much road sense, so the aim is to find him a place in a quiet area away from busy roads.

Pocahontas

Pocahontas came to Ashley Heath from a multi-cat household with limited socialisation, but this hasn't stopped her loving fuss and attention.

She's not a lap cat at the moment but this may come with time once she fully settles into a new home.

Despite this, she does love company and to be stroked, as she was found to follow her foster carer round all the time.

Pocahontas could live with secondary school-aged children and a friendly cat given time to get to know each other.
