THE branch of a tree in Bournemouth snapped off and landed on top of a car – leaving it destroyed.
A black Vauxhall Corsa parked in Gervis Road at East Cliff suffered smashed windows and damaged bodywork.
Dorset Police’s traffic officers, who attended the incident, said the branch is believed to have come down during the recent heavy rainfall.
The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain throughout Saturday and Sunday for the whole county, including Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Dorset Traffic Cops said: “The owner of this vehicle discovered a large branch had snapped off and fallen on their vehicle in Gervis Road, Bournemouth during the heavy rain on Saturday, September 7.
“Sadly it is likely damaged beyond economical repair. BCP Council attended the scene and removed the large branch.”
Dorset Police's spokesman added: "We received a report at 5.33pm on Saturday 7 September 2024 that a tree had fallen on a car in Gervis Road in Bournemouth, causing damage to the vehicle’s rear windscreen.
"The vehicle owner and local authority were notified."
