A FLOOD warning has been issued for several areas across Dorset.

The environment agency has warned people to “be prepared” for flooding in tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch.

Flooding is possible as the river and its streams are rising due to prolonged, heavy rain.

Roads and low-lying land are also at risk of becoming flooded.

Areas most at risk include tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch.

Further rainfall is forecasted throughout the evening and tomorrow, which may raise levels further.

A spokesperson for The Environment Agency said: “We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.”

They have recommended people activate any property flood protection products.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

Updates will follow as the situation changes.
