A FUNDRAISING page has been set up in memory of a ‘devoted’ husband who passed away from a rare cancer.

Lee Deacon was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer in 2013 and passed away at the age of 47 earlier this year.

In his memory, Lee’s friends are embarking on a walk across Bournemouth, visiting his favourite places to raise money for Sarcoma UK.

Lee’s friend, David Sanders said: “We’ve arranged to walk across Bournemouth and Christchurch and take in several of his favourite haunts, including the Vitality Stadium, O2 Academy, Moon in the Square and Solent Meads Golf Club.

“We'll also head to Bournemouth School, where most of us studied, and Mudeford, which he loved visiting with his family including his wife Caroline and young daughter.”

In a tribute to her husband, Caroline said: “Lee was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and dad to our daughter Eva.

“He was incredibly loyal, always putting others first. He had a fantastic sense of humour and was always great fun to be around.

“Lee loved Bournemouth and the surrounding areas, so we thought it fitting to take in several of his favourite local places to form a charity walk.

“As a proud Cherries fan this includes the Vitality Stadium, as well as Bournemouth School, where he studied for his GCSEs and A-Levels, and some of his favourite pubs and clubs.

“Lee was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, over 10 years ago.

“He fought incredibly bravely throughout, and even towards the end always placed family and friends at the forefront of his mind.

"We miss him terribly but will never forget him.

“While the walk will be a poignant day, we are looking forward to celebrating Lee's life, as well as raising money for Sarcoma UK, a brilliant cause that is helping to fight this type of cancer.

“A number of Lee’s family and friends will be joining in, travelling from as far afield as New York, Faro in Portugal, London and Manchester to help mark the day.

“A JustGiving page has been set up for donations and we'd like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has already pledged. We're looking to raise as much money as possible to help battle sarcoma and all donations are greatly appreciated.”
