THE victim of a glassing attack in Bournemouth town centre has been discharged from hospital, police have confirmed.

The man aged in his 30s was taken to Poole Hospital initially in a life threatening condition, but he has since recovered and is out of hospital.

At 4.11am on Saturday, August 31, police received a report from the ambulance service that a man had been struck with a glass bottle in the area of Poole Hill.

Police have launched a full investigation into the incident, led by detectives from BCP CID, but nobody has been arrested as of Monday morning, September 2.

Officers cordoned off a large part of the area, including in West Hill Road, Poole Hill and Commercial Road, while forensics carried out enquiries.

Residents were shocked to hear somebody was in hospital fighting for his life, but didn't seem as shocked at another serious incident.

Bournemouth resident John Cotterill said: “There’s too many incidents happening in recently.

"All these stabbings, bottlings... something needs to be done about it. I worry about my grandkids going out into the town centre. Such a shame.”

Poole Hill resident Sandra out walking her dog said: “It’s getting really bad Bournemouth.

“I’m surprised they haven’t got anybody given where it is. There will be CCTV everywhere.”

Another passer-by, when told a man was bottled overnight in the town centre, added: “Typical isn’t it. I won’t say any more.”

A spokeswoman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.23am on Saturday, August 31 to an incident in Bournemouth.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, and three operations officers to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
