DAYTIME closures of the A35 are expected to last for nearly a week, Dorset Council has said.

The stretch of road between Bere Regis Roundabout and Sugar Hill will be closed for highways work and maintenance from Thursday, September 12.

Workmen will be on site between 9am and 4pm daily, with the road reopening for the evenings, nights and the weekend.

Work is anticipated to finish by Tuesday, September 17.

Dorset Council said: “We will be carrying out targeted and localised repairs to sections of those roads.

“The recommended diversion route is marked in blue, and this will remain in place for the full duration of the above works.

“National regulations state that traffic must be diverted onto roads with the same classification as the one that is closed.”

And once this work has been done, maintenance work will be done in Rye Hill, approaching Bere Regis from Wool.

The road, between Chamberlaynes and Yearlings’ Drive, will also be closed from 9am to 4pm daily.

Workmen will be there between Wednesday, September 18 to Tuesday, September 24.

A diversion route will be in place past Clouds Hill, Waddock Drove, through Affpuddle and onto the A35 and vice versa.
