A 47ft lifeboat has pulled up in Swanage as part of a fundraising cruise for the RNLI.

The retired 47ft Watson class lifeboat, named AMiTy, arrived in Swanage Bay on Saturday morning.

Residents were able to see the old lifeboat in mooring by Swanage Lifeboat Station.

Elvin and Cindi Shawyer are the current custodians of the boat, which was known as AMT, ON963, while in service.

The pair are using the boat for a fundraising cruise, seeing them visit 31 volunteer-run lifeboat stations across Hampshire, Dorset, The Isle of Wight, Sussex, Kent and Southend.

Their progress can be followed on the 'Lifeboat 4 Lifeboats' Facebook page.

After the visit, Swanage Lifeboat Station posted on social media: “Thank you to Elvin and Cindi for their fundraising challenge that will help raise vital funds for the RNLI.”
