THE girl who was stabbed in Christchurch is nine-years old, police have confirmed.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.45pm on Tuesday, August 20, that the girl had sustained stab wounds at an address in Glider Close.

Emergency services attended the scene, and a cordon was put in place around a block of flats.

The girl was taken to Southampton Hospital with injuries not described as life threatening.

A man aged in his 20s from Christchurch has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A local woman aged in her 50s has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They both remain in police custody and the investigation remains ongoing.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 5.43pm on Tuesday, August 20, to an incident in Christchurch.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene.

"We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital."
