THOUSANDS turned out in the shining sun as colours filled the streets of Swanage at its annual carnival.
Swanage Carnival is one of the premier carnivals across the south coast – and this year’s was no different.
The Flintstones paraded alongside miners, disco dancers, sailors and bikers among a host of floats in Sunday’s parade.
The event saw people line the streets of the town for the carnival procession, with those taking part getting into the spirit of this year’s theme, Jurassic Rocks, paying homage to the area’s prehistoric past.

But the carnival does not end with the procession – there is a whole weeks’ worth of events still to come.
This includes wheelbarrow races, fancy dress street entertainment and fireworks, which will take place on Wednesday, July 31 and the final day of the carnival, Saturday, August 3.
