A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been spoken to by police in relation to a fire on a common.
Hampshire Police said both the boy and his parents had been spoken with following an incident on Pennington Common on Tuesday, May 30.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “The local neighbourhood policing team will look at carrying out further work with local schools regarding education and prevention.”
The fire, involving gorse, was reported to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service at around 7.30pm.
Police were called to the scene by the fire service at 7.47pm to a report of a bush alight.
Officers attended and initial enquiries suggested the fire may have been started deliberately.
The fire was extinguished using hose reels, with fire crews leaving the scene at 8.12pm.
