PARENTS have complained about the organisation of a Bournemouth Marathon Festival event after up to 50 juniors reportedly lost out on their medals.

One parent, who asked not to be named, complained to organisers after her daughter Maya, six, and eight-year-old son Woody had to go without, and had to deal with her children who finished "in floods of tears".

She said she'd been told around 50 children missed out but officials told her it was closer to 30. 

"They wanted to take their medals into school and they can't," she said. "They've worked really hard for it. They've said they'll post them out to them in two weeks but by then it will have lost its value. It's really not good enough."

Another mum, Emma Midwinter, said she felt this year had been badly managed after organisers misspelled her son's name.

Her six-year-old son William, of Stanley Green Infant Academy, was running with his brother Elliot, eight, of Oakdale Junior School.

"He was really disappointed," said the 41-year-old of Wimborne Road.

"I printed a new name out, in the same font and the same colour. I paid a lot of money for them to enter. It's been really badly organised. I asked for them to phone me back, when the mistake happened, and they didn't and when I asked for my money back they ignored me."

The organisers have not so far responded to requests for a comment.
