John (MBE) Slow

SLOW John (MBE) Passed away on 11th October 2023 age 92 years. Loving husband to the late Molly, father to the late David and to Julie and Linda, grandfather and great grandfather. Gave so much to the Wimborne community in so many ways. Funeral service to be held at Wimborne Methodist Church on Friday 10th November at 2.30pm. Please wear bright and colourful clothing. Just heard the news, too late to attend unfortunately. Friends of John and Molly for many years. Attended their silver wedding anniversary with the children. Lots of chats related to racing as i used to work for Extel. Many coffees and Mollys home made cake. Given lots of advice on legal matters and house purchases. Will miss the annual round up of Slow news in the usual Christmas card. RIP both, will be missed. Xxx

I have very fond memories of Mr Slow when I worked at Poole Magistrates Court. Writing his door code in pencil on the door jamb so he wouldn’t forget it. Discussing the downfall of Lester Piggot on a trip over to Wimborne. Being given a tip for the Cheltenham Gold Cup one year and it won! Not to mention his ‘slush fund’ which paid for some office Christmas meals. He was a truly lovely man. Rest in peace, Mr Slow.
