ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE POOLE (POOLE LIFTING BRIDGE AND BRIDGE APPROACH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2016

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough and County of the Town of Poole, the Highway Authority, is satisfied that traffic on the said Road should be prohibited and intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order in exercise of its powers under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers as detailed above, the effect of which is that no person shall cause or permit any person or vehicle to proceed over Poole Lifting Bridge. Bridge Approach will also be closed from the roundabout at the junction with New Quay Road and Blandford Road. Access for businesses will be maintained.

The closure is required for the demolition and replacement of the existing bridge approach spans, including the abutments at the Poole and Hamworthy ends of the bridge.

The proposed Order is effective from Monday 12 September 2016 until Friday 9 June 2017.

The Order is operative for the period mentioned above but will continue in force for the statutory period of eighteen months if required.

If the works are not completed within the statutory period the Order may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £400.
