AND TWIN SAILS BRIDGE
THE POOLE (RIGLER ROAD/TWIN SAILS
BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
THROUGH TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS)
ORDER 2016
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough and County of the Town of Poole, the Highway Authority, is satisfied that traffic on the said Road should be prohibited and has made an Order in exercise of its powers under Section 5, 14(1), 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers as detailed above, the effect of which is that no person shall cause or permit any person or vehicle to proceed along Rigler Road and over the Twin Sails Bridge. Access will be for businesses on Rigler Road only.
THE CLOSURE IS REQUIRED FOR ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
The proposed Order is effective from 7am on Monday 14 March 2016 until 7am on Monday 21 March 2016. The Twin Sails Bridge will be closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists throughout the closure. Boat traffic will be affected by a revised lifting schedule which will be in operation during the closure period (details of which can be found on the Borough's web site - www.poole.gov.uk). A diversionary route will be via the old Poole Bridge and lifts undertaken in accordance with the revised schedule.
The Order is operative for the period mentioned above but will continue in force for the statutory period of eighteen months if required.
If the works are not completed within the statutory period the Order may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.
Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £400. For more information regarding the works, please contact Transportation Services, Tel. No. (01202) 262111.
